Tasting profile
Crisp apple, white nectarine, lemon zest, chalky minerality, subtle toast, and honeysuckle aromatics. Palate shows lively citrus, orchard fruit and a saline-inflected finish.
Evolution: Will gain nuttier and more honeyed notes, subtle brioche, and deeper minerality with cellaring; fruit will soften and tertiary complexity will emerge by 2026-2028.
At peak: Anticipate optimal harmony of fruit and mineral/floral complexity between 2025 and 2028.

- Current condition
- Fresh, energetic, and vibrant with primary fruit and mineral notes; beginning to develop complexity but primary characteristics remain dominant.
2022 produced energetic, well-fruited but structured Mâconnais whites. As a single-site wine from old vines, it has more depth and mid-term aging potential than most Mâcon-Chardonnay. Peak drinking is typically within 4-8 years after vintage for this level, with a possible stretch to 10 years in exceptional cellars. Beyond this, freshness will likely diminish, although fine bottles could offer complex mature flavors a bit longer.

Sustainability
Sustainability score: 9/10
Biodynamic viticulture with strict avoidance of synthetic chemicals, use of compost/farm-sourced preparations. Hand-harvested, wild yeast fermentations. Native biodiversity encouraged in and around vineyards. Lightweight glass bottles, natural cork, eco-labels. Commitment to low intervention and ecological balance.
La Soufrandière is a recognized leader in sustainable winegrowing in the Mâconnais, certified both organic and biodynamic (rare for the region). The estate is highly transparent about vineyard health, biodiversity, energy use, and low-impact packaging. Family-run, estate-bottled wines reduce transport and energy inputs. Overall, this is an exemplary sustainable Burgundy producer with a very high score, especially for a region where conventional farming is still common.
