‘Nosotros’ is Susana Balbo’s flagship bottling, sourced from select high-altitude Malbec plots in Paraje Altamira, Uco Valley. The 2019 vintage is widely regarded as one of Mendoza's greatest recent harvests: cool conditions yielded structured, ageworthy wines with deep concentration and freshness. This wine benefits from both the winemaking precision and natural acid balance provided by high-elevation terroir, supporting cellaring up to two decades in top conditions.
Food pairing
Ideal with dry-aged beef, lamb chops, wild mushroom risotto, hard cheeses, or Argentine asado.
Serving
- Decant
- Yes (30 minutes) — The wine has firm tannins and is medium-bodied, which can benefit from aeration to enhance its flavors and soften the tannins.
Sustainability
Sustainability score: 8/10
Drip irrigation for water conservation; solar energy partially implemented; strict vineyard yield control; reduced chemical input (integrated pest management); eco-friendly packaging including lighter bottles and recycled cardboard
Susana Balbo Wines is recognized among Argentina's leaders in sustainability, focusing on smart energy, water saving, waste reduction, and local community support. They have made important progress with resource efficiency and packaging, though are not fully certified organic or biodynamic. The long international supply chain raises carbon emissions for export markets, yet the winery’s internal mitigation policies help offset this. Continuous progress in reducing energy and water use, and switching to lighter, eco-friendly materials, results in a strong sustainability profile for the region—well above average for premium South American wine estates.
