Smith-Haut-Lafitte's white is one of the longest-lived and most serious dry whites of Bordeaux, thanks to meticulous vineyard management, barrel fermentation, and sur-lie aging. The 2022 vintage was warm, resulting in an expressive and ripe profile but with preserved vibrancy; it will slowly evolve complexity over 10-20 years. Early drinking shows freshness; mid-term aging brings out subtlety and tertiary notes.
Food pairing
Ideal with lobster, turbot, roast chicken with morels, crab, sushi, creamy vegetarian dishes, and aged cheeses (Comté, Gruyère). Decant lightly when young.
