Tasting profile
Ripe yellow stone fruit, almond, honeyed notes, chamomile and a gentle lanolin, layered with developed savory/herbal complexity. Texture is rich and rounded, with fading acidity.
Evolution: Fruit is declining and tertiary notes (hazelnut, beeswax) are prominent. Herbal, saline edge with integrated oak.
At peak: During 2017-2021: more vibrant fruit, fresher mouthfeel, greater aromatic lift. Now: more oxidative/nutty, with subtle mineral length.

- Current condition
- Elegant mature white showing tertiary notes, with diminishing fruit and increased nuttiness.
This Friulano reaches maturity around 5-8 years post-vintage, where fruit and structure balance. After a decade, tertiary flavors dominate, and freshness wanes, so current bottles show developed but less vibrant character.
Food pairing
Mature cheeses (aged Montasio, Pecorino), prosciutto San Daniele, seafood risotto, roasted poultry, or pasta with truffles.

Sustainability
Sustainability score: 5/10
Low-intervention/quality-first farming, but not certified; some hand harvesting, use of indigenous yeasts, minimal treatment; no documented renewable energy or special packaging/transport initiatives.
Meroi is known for careful vineyard management, focus on terroir, and craft-scale production. However, there is no formal certification for organic or sustainable agriculture for this vintage. The estate does limit chemical inputs, but does not advertise carbon-neutrality, renewable energy, or water-saving methods. Bottles are traditional, not lightweight or eco-optimized. Overall, practices are above industrial average but lack third-party sustainability validation.
