Tasting profile
Lively citrus (lemon, quince), green apple, white florals, pronounced steely minerality, subtle beeswax, racy acidity, bone-dry finish.
Evolution: Over time, gains honeyed notes, lanolin/wool, dried apricot, and more pronounced mineral/earth tones while retaining freshness. Texture broadens and complexity increases.
At peak: At peak (2024-2030): balance of incisive citrus and orchard fruits with emerging hazelnut, honey, and wet stone complexity. Still vibrant, but with deeper tertiary notes.

Clos Naudin Vouvray Sec is renowned for its ageability due to high acidity, low pH, and minimalist intervention from Philippe Foreau. Excellent producers and great vintages like 2015 age for 15-20+ years even with moderate pricing. 2015’s power and balance support a drinking window through at least 2033. Top bottles may last even longer.

Sustainability
Sustainability score: 7/10
Foreau uses minimal chemical treatments in the vineyard (lutte raisonnée), natural yeasts for fermentation, no chaptalization, low sulfur, hand-harvesting. Focuses on biodiversity, cover crops, and careful water/soil management. No herbicides or synthetic pesticides.
Clos Naudin is not officially organic, but the Foreau family practices sustainable, thoughtful viticulture: manual labor, biodiversity, natural fermentation, and minimal additives. Use of traditional heavy bottles is less sustainable; local distribution is more eco-friendly. No green certifications lowers the score but the actual practices are at the high end of traditional sustainability in the region.
