Tasting profile
Pale straw color. Aromas of green apple, pear, white peach, light florals, and a stony, alpine minerality. Palate is crisp and lively with citrus (lemon zest), orchard fruit, and a refreshing salinity. Finish is clean, lightly mineral, with cleansing acidity.
Evolution: With time, the wine loses some fragrant freshness; fruit notes turn slightly stewed or baked, and nutty/almond notes develop. Acidity softens, and overall vibrancy fades.
At peak: When young (2020-2022), expressive nose and lively palate; by 2024, more subdued but still pleasant if properly cellared.

Elena Walch Pinot Grigio is a classic, high-quality Alto Adige style meant for early consumption. The varietal thrives in the region's cool alpine climate, producing a wine with excellent freshness and minerality. Nonetheless, Pinot Grigio is not a wine for long aging: structure and concentration are moderate, and the emphasis is on immediate drinkability and aromatics, which fade after 3-4 years—even from a top estate like Elena Walch.
Food pairing
Excellent with light salads, ceviche, shellfish, grilled trout, asparagus, sushi, simple pasta with olive oil, or mild soft cheeses (ricotta, mozzarella). Also suited to vegetarian antipasti.
