Tasting profile

Dense red cherry, raspberry, wild herbs, wet slate, smoked mineral, elegant floral notes, tightly knit palate.

Evolution: Fruit profile will grow deeper and more savory; floral and mineral aspects will integrate as tannins soften, developing tertiary notes (earth, leather, balsam).

At peak: Silky texture, profound length, remarkable aromatic complexity, transparent mineral expression of Priorat's unique llicorella soils.

Structure

Acidity
Fresh and lifting, typical of high-altitude Garnacha.
Tannins
Fine, structured, medium to high with a powdery texture.
Alcohol
Moderate to high (typically 14-15% ABV as per vintage variation).
Aging potential
20+ years in ideal conditions, among Priorat's most cellaring-worthy single-vineyard reds.

Drinking window

Peak drinking
2030 to 2040
Optimal window
2027 to 2045
Current status
Young and powerful; suitable for early drinking with aeration but built for long-term cellaring.
Current condition
Tightly wound, intense red and black fruit, mineral, with notable structure—promises significant development with time.

2022 Les Manyes is produced from very old-vine Garnacha (Cariñena) at high elevation, resulting in remarkable freshness and transparency. Its tightly structured tannins and natural acidity mean it will peak some 8-18 years after harvest; earlier drinking emphasizes primary fruit, while full expressive complexity emerges closer to 2030 and persists for at least a decade at peak.

Food pairing

Best with grilled lamb, venison, game birds, aged Manchego, robust mushroom or truffle dishes, or cassoulet—pairs well with dishes leveraging earthy, savory flavors.

Serving

Decant
Yes (30 minutes) — The wine has medium to high tannins and is relatively young, which can benefit from aeration to soften the tannins and enhance its aromatic profile.

Sustainability

Sustainability score: 9/10

100% organic viticulture since inception—no synthetic chemicals, minimal sulfur, hand-harvesting, horse ploughs, cover crops, recycling of winery water; gravity-flow facility reducing energy; native yeast fermentations, natural cork closures, lightweight bottles for reduced transportation impact.

Terroir Al Limit has pioneered minimal-intervention, non-irrigated, fully organic (and near-biodynamic) grape growing in Priorat. Vineyard work is manual, with low-input, regenerative practices, seeking to enhance biodiversity and soil health. The winery uses renewable energy and natural materials, and exports with a focus on lighter packaging. Overall, the estate is considered a reference point for sustainability in Spain, just one step from full biodynamic or carbon-neutral certification.
