Sustainability
Sustainability score: 8/10
Producer uses drip irrigation, water recycling, native cover crops, solar/renewable energy at winery, lightweight bottles, recyclable packaging. Integrated pest management; reduced chemical inputs. Native forest conservation projects.
Viña Errázuriz is a leader in sustainability among major Chilean producers: founding member of Chile’s Vinos de Chile Sustainability Code, early adopter of renewable energy and ecological vineyard management. While not organic or biodynamic, the estate’s deep commitment is notable: conserving local biodiversity, minimizing water/chemical use, and improving packaging. Transportation to far markets (US, EU, Asia) remains a main carbon factor, but producer efforts score very high for Latin America and New World. Overall, this is one of the most sustainable premium Chilean Chardonnays available.
