Tasting profile
Crisp green apple, Bartlett pear, citrus zest, delicate white flowers, subtle yeasty notes, persistent lively bubbles, clean, refreshing finish
Evolution: Primary fruit and floral notes will fade; acidity will soften, bubbles may lose persistence, overall aromatics and freshness diminish beyond 2 years
At peak: At peak, expect vibrant fruit, crisp acidity, elegant bubbles, and expressive floral and orchard fruit character; best enjoyed well chilled
Structure
- Acidity
- Medium-plus, bright and lifting the palate; essential to vibrancy and freshness, will soften slightly with short aging
- Tannins
- Very low to absent (as typical for Prosecco, which is a white sparkling wine)
- Alcohol
- Light to moderate (11% ABV typical), very well integrated, not dominant
- Aging potential
- Best enjoyed within 1-2 years from vintage; short-term cellaring possible but not recommended for long-term aging
Drinking window
- Peak drinking
- 2024 to 2025
- Optimal window
- 2024 to 2026
- Current status
- Ready to drink now
- Current condition
- Excellent freshness, vibrant aromatics, showing all primary fruit and floral notes typical for young Prosecco
Prosecco is designed for immediate consumption, with its characteristically fresh, fruity, and floral aromatics best appreciated in the first 1-2 years after release. The relatively low alcohol and absence of tannins mean the wine does not benefit from extensive aging. As time passes, the wine loses its signature freshness, carbonation declines, and oxidative notes can develop, causing rapid quality decline after peak years.
Food pairing
Ideal with light appetizers (prosciutto-wrapped melon, crostini), seafood (shrimp cocktail, oysters, fried calamari), fresh cheeses (mozzarella, burrata), sushi, and light salads. As the wine ages (if consumed after peak), pair with richer appetizers or mild creamy dishes, but avoid spicy or robust foods which may accentuate aged acidity or diminished bubbles.
