Like many high-quality Rioja blanc, this wine is made from old bush-vine Viura, grown at elevation, reflecting terroir through limestone soils and organic farming. The blend and winemaking style (indigenous yeasts, minimal intervention) create a wine that is expressive young but gains nuance and complexity over a short to medium period.

Sustainability
Sustainability score: 9/10
Dry farming, hand-harvesting, native cover crops, minimal intervention in winery, gravity flow, low-intervention/sulphites, focus on biodiversity; uses solar energy on-site and composts all winery waste; lightweight recycled-glass bottles and natural cork
Bodegas Bhilar is recognized for its regenerative, holistic approach: certified organic and biodynamic since 2016, no synthetic inputs, and robust soil/carbon sequestration through cover cropping and permanent vegetation. They emphasize ecosystem health (birds, pollinators, native flora), low water use (dry farmed), and renewable energy (solar). Packaging is sustainable. Relative to most global wines, its overall carbon/eco impact is extremely low up to shipping; as an export product, impact varies depending on consumer location, but producer side is exemplary.
