- Fresh fruit-driven and vibrant with moderate complexity. Drinking well young but can benefit from 1-3 years of cellaring.
As a fresh, approachable Tuscan blend crafted for enjoyment in youth, Il Ghizzano shines on its primary fruit and lively energy. The modest tannic structure and moderate pricing indicate best consumption within 5-7 years. The superior 2022 Tuscan vintage provides an extra year to the drinking window, but extended aging will not add complexity. Not a cellar wine, but robust enough for short aging.
Food pairing
Ideal with Tuscan pasta dishes (pici al ragù), pizza, grilled sausages, salumi, roast chicken, and hard Italian cheeses (Pecorino, Parmigiano). Also excellent with tomato-based stews and vegetarian fare.

Sustainability
Sustainability score: 9/10
Regenerative organic viticulture, cover cropping, recycling of water & materials, solar energy, composting, manual harvest, lightweight glass bottles, natural cork closures, minimal intervention in vineyard and winery, local hiring policies.
Tenuta di Ghizzano is recognized as a leader in sustainable viticulture in Tuscany. The estate has been certified organic since 2008 and is converting to Demeter biodynamics. Vineyard management employs cover crops, biodiversity preservation, natural pest management, solar-powered winery operations, and strong waste/water minimization. Packaging is environmentally conscious (lightweight bottles). The estate frequently participates in Equalitas and VIVA sustainability initiatives. These efforts, combined with estate-produced fruit and short supply chains (locally-sourced sales are common), yield a near-best-in-class sustainability profile for a Tuscan producer.
